This Privacy Policy applies to the Saymundo language and travel phrasebook apps by Smiling Cube Studios, including Saymundo: Spanish for Travel and other Saymundo apps.

Smiling Cube Studios is a small 2-person app and game company. Saymundo apps are designed to help travellers learn and use practical words and phrases while travelling. We take privacy seriously. Our goal is to collect as little data as possible.

The current version of the Saymundo apps:

does not require registration or login
does not show advertisements
does not use third-party analytics services such as Firebase Analytics
does not collect, store, sell or share personal data through the app
may store app settings, purchase status and learning progress locally on your device
may use Apple App Store or Google Play services for in-app purchases and restoring purchases

User information

The Saymundo apps do not offer registration or login. We do not ask for your name, address, email address, phone number, date of birth or other personal information inside the app.

Smiling Cube Studios does not maintain a user database for Saymundo users.

If you contact us by email

If you send us an email, we will receive your email address and the information you include in your message. We will use this information only to read your message, reply to you and provide support if needed.

We will not sell or share this information with third parties. If you would like us to delete your email after reading or replying to it, please let us know.

Data collected by the Saymundo app

In the current version, the Saymundo apps do not collect personal data through the app.

We do not currently use advertising SDKs, ad networks or third-party analytics SDKs in the Saymundo apps.

Local data on your device

The app may store non-personal app data locally on your device, for example:

app settings
selected language or display preferences
audio or playback preferences
purchase/unlock status
quiz results or learning progress, if applicable
data needed for the app to function properly

This data is stored locally on your device and is not sent to Smiling Cube Studios.

Please note that your device operating system, such as iOS or Android, may include this local app data in device backups depending on your own device and cloud backup settings.

In-app purchases

The Saymundo apps may offer a one-time in-app purchase to unlock full content.

In-app purchases are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. These companies process payment and account information according to their own privacy policies and payment terms.

Smiling Cube Studios does not receive your payment card details. We also do not receive your Apple ID password, Google account password or full payment information.

The app may receive or check technical purchase or receipt information from Apple or Google to unlock purchased content and to restore purchases. This information is used only to provide and restore the purchased app content.

Advertising

The Saymundo apps do not show advertisements.

We do not use ad networks, personalized ads, retargeting, tracking for advertising, IDFA-based advertising or Android Advertising ID-based advertising in the current version of the Saymundo apps.

Analytics and crash reports

The current version of the Saymundo apps does not use external analytics services such as Firebase Analytics.

This means that Smiling Cube Studios does not currently collect analytics events such as which phrases are opened, which chapters are used, how often quizzes are played or how individual users behave inside the app.

Apple and Google may provide developers with general app store information, such as downloads, sales, country or region, device type, crashes or performance information. Such platform information is provided according to Apple's and Google's own policies and is not used by Smiling Cube Studios to personally identify individual Saymundo users.

If we add analytics in the future

We may add privacy-friendly analytics in a future version of the Saymundo apps, for example to understand which chapters are useful, whether users experience crashes or which parts of the app need improvement.

If we add third-party analytics, such as Firebase Analytics, we will update this Privacy Policy and the relevant App Store / Google Play privacy declarations. We will explain what data is collected, why it is collected and whether user choices or consent options are available where required.

Permissions

The current version of the Saymundo apps does not need access to your camera, microphone, contacts, precise location, photo library or health data for its core functionality.

If a future version of the app requires additional permissions, the app will request them through the standard iOS or Android permission system, and this Privacy Policy will be updated where needed.

Children

Saymundo apps are general language and travel apps. They are not directed specifically at children.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children through the Saymundo apps.

Data sharing and selling

Smiling Cube Studios does not sell personal data.

Because the current version of the Saymundo apps does not collect personal data through the app, we do not share such personal data with third parties.

Apple and Google may process data in connection with app distribution, purchases, refunds, device security, crash reporting or platform services according to their own privacy policies.

Data retention

Because we do not collect personal data through the Saymundo apps, we do not retain such app-related personal data.

If you contact us by email, we may keep your message as long as needed to respond to you, provide support or keep necessary business records. You may ask us to delete your email conversation, unless we need to keep it for legal, security or administrative reasons.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we add new features, release Saymundo apps on new platforms, add analytics or need to comply with new legal or store requirements.

When we update this Privacy Policy, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
